Brien M. O'Brien, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Brien O’Brien is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Port Capital and is responsible for the overall management and strategy of the firm.  Prior to establishing Port Capital in 2015, Brien co-founded and spent 25 years as Chairman and CEO of a $12.5 billion investment management firm based in Chicago and operating across global markets.

Brien is the Chair of the Board of Trustees at University of Chicago Medicine; he also serves as a Trustee and is an Executive Committee member of the University of Chicago. Brien is also active in advancing public health and enhancing communities while serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at the de Beaumont Foundation and President of the Board of Trustees of the Sheriffs Meadow Foundation, an accredited land trust based in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

Brien graduated with honors from Boston College with a B.S. in Finance and Theology.


Brad Schatz, President

Brad Schatz brings 23 years of investment experience to the firm.  Brad leads the research team and serves as the lead Portfolio Manager for Port Capital’s Small Cap and Partners (multi-cap) equity strategies.  Before Port Capital, Brad spent nine years as a Portfolio Manager and Senior Analyst with San Francisco based Snyder Capital Management. Brad received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and both a B.S. in Finance and B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder.


Ed Loeb, Partner

Ed Loeb, CFA, brings more than 30 years of investment experience to Port Capital.  He works with both individual and institutional clients to develop and implement investment strategies.  Before joining Port Capital, Ed spent 26 years at Harris Associates where he was a Partner and Portfolio Manager, and managed separate account portfolios for individuals and institutions.

Ed currently serves on the Executive Committee of Erikson Institute, as well as several other non-profit boards. He earned his M.B.A. with honors from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and received a B.A. in Economics with honors from Princeton University.


Tracy Rothmeyer, Partner

Tracy Rothmeyer brings more than 25 years of investment experience to the firm and serves as Head of Operations and Chief Compliance Officer.  Prior to joining Port Capital, Tracy spent 19 years as a Vice President with Chicago-based investment management firm Advisory Research, Inc., where she was Head of Operations for the firm.  She also served as the firm’s liaison with strategic industry partners including custodians, auditors and third-party administrators.  Tracy received her B.S. in Business Management with a minor in Psychology from Bradley University.
